Technology
In order to compete in a global society we believe students must be 1) critical thinkers who are fluent, and effective communicators 2) able to solve different types of non-familiar problems in conventional and innovative ways, and are 3) able to use technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate and communicate information. To facilitate these skill sets at the Academy of Warren, we provide three technology labs that provide our students with exposure to and mastery of the skills necessary to use technology as an integral part of their learning experience.
Technology integration is continued in each classroom through teacher facilitated instruction, utilizing SMART (interactive) white boards, iPad learning centers, and individualized instruction using desk top computers.
In Explore/Encore classes students are instructed in keyboarding skills, Microsoft productivity suites, and other computer applications. Students learn how to appropriately use digital technologies (computers, PDAs, media players, GPS, etc.), communication/networking tools and social network applications to access, manage, integrate, evaluate and create information. Upon mastery, students can successfully function in an information rich, knowledge based economy.
